My story begins in Târgu Mureș. I was born into a family of doctors and pharmacists, in a city that at the time had only one university — the Medical University. After high school, it’s not hard to guess, I chose to study medicine. My father was an elegant, meticulous man, impeccably dressed in his white hospital suit, with the charisma and authority of a doctor. I wanted to be like him…
After university, I was inspired to follow my mother’s example — one of the first female entrepreneurs in Romania, with businesses in retail, distribution, and pharmaceutical manufacturing — a visionary, optimistic, and extremely courageous woman. My passion for cosmetics began in childhood, when I would walk through the pharmacy door and watch my mother preparing her own creams in the laboratory. All her friends and my aunts used them.
Much later, in Paris, where I studied pharmaceutical marketing, I began for the first time to have very sensitive skin. My friends Sophie and Nassima, also doctors, advised me to use dermocosmetics — pharmacy products, hypoallergenic, fragrance-free, and tested not to cause allergies.
That’s when I discovered, on the shelves in their homes, French cosmetic brands based on thermal water, soothing and anti-irritating for the skin. Later, through my work, I became aware of the growing number of people with sensitive skin and allergies, and I wanted to create products that would treat skin problems.
Since our country is known and recognized for its thermal and mineral springs, I began searching for and analyzing the composition of Romania’s thermal waters. In Herculane, I found a thermo-saline spring with a unique composition, very rich in minerals and trace elements. After numerous clinical studies demonstrating the soothing and anti-irritating effects of thermal water on the skin, in 2005 I created Ivatherm — the first Romanian dermocosmetic brand dedicated to sensitive skin. All Ivatherm products contain Herculane thermal water and innovative cocktails of active ingredients adapted to the skin’s needs.
The dermatologists we work with today have conducted countless clinical studies demonstrating the benefits of Herculane thermal water, the main ingredient in our products.
Today, the second largest market for Ivatherm products is China. Sensitive skin is very common there, especially because of pollution. Eighty percent of our sales in China are Herculane thermal water sprays. Whenever I am in Shanghai, at all meetings with my Chinese partners, during coffee breaks both men and women refresh themselves with Herculane thermal water, which is soothing and anti-irritating. There is a very interesting water culture in Asia, with many rituals built around water. Also in Asia, in the Philippines, when I first walked through the door of our current partner, Eyskin, Ruby — a Filipina of Chinese origin, eccentric, refined, elegant, passionate about dance, and owner of many aesthetic medicine clinics — told me: “Ah… my face feels tight, I can’t put anything on it… I’ll try your water… if it helps me, we’ll distribute your brand!”
And that is exactly what happened.
Today we sell Ivatherm products, especially Herculane thermal water, in all Flawless clinics in the Philippines.
My desire and motivation are to offer women innovative, effective, and safe treatments, prescribed by dermatologists.
Ivatherm is a modern brand, with and for women. We want to be close to you every day — your opinions matter to us.
